Closed Friday evening Dec. 6.

We'll be open on both Tuesdays Dec. 24th and Dec. 31st.  We will be closed Christmas and New Year's days.

Answers to Sat. 11/30 Novice quiz:

1.  a.  You don't!!  If you play the heart suit, you'll lose three tricks.  You need to figure out a way to have the opponents lead hearts first.  b.  The biggest card is the diamond seven.  If you count and watch the spots, you'll see that the diamond seven is high for your third diamond trick and a valuable overtrick.

5.  You need to manage your entries carefully.  The first time you are in dummy, lead a DIAMOND up to your king/queen.  This will permit you to ruff a diamond for your second entry to take the spade finesse.

8.  None.  East must pass after West opens 1NT.  You'll miss your 4/4 heart fit, but that's the way it goes.

10.  You need to play the club suit very carefully.  Lead up to the ace and return the jack!  This play "smothers" the doubleton ten.  Will you do this at the table?  Not likely.  You'll take the club finesse and go down like most of the other players.
